Exterior Rendering & Chimney Restoration in Welsh Newton

At Nick’s Complete Plastering, no job is too high or too detailed! This project in Welsh Newton near Monmouth involved a comprehensive exterior restoration, starting with the removal of old render from the front of the house and chimney.

The process began by knocking off the existing render and carefully removing cracked or damaged sections to reveal a stable surface. During this stage, any loose or crumbling mortar was identified and cleared to address weak points in the structure. Following this, the chimney and house facade were re-mucked, with fresh mortar meticulously applied to the joints, reinforcing the blockwork and ensuring a durable base for the next steps.

Once the surface was prepared, the base coat for the K render system was applied. Using HP12 with mesh embedded into the base coat, the structure was strengthened and primed for a flawless finish. This included detailed work on the chimney, ensuring consistency and stability across the entire project.

The final stage involved the application of a topcoat of K-1 silicone render in a vibrant green. After the render was carefully smoothed for a seamless finish, the surface was scratched back the next morning to create the desired texture. This process not only added character but also enhanced the topcoat’s weather-resistant properties, leaving the facade looking polished and protected against the elements.
